Progressive Scratch-Building for Ship
Modelers
LowBridge developed a ship modeling scratch building projects CD for Seaways Publishing, Inc. in Adobe Acrobat format. The concept was to offer electronic versions of a book and two magazine article series authored by Clayton A. Feldman, MD in a format readable by both PC and Macintosh computers.

Work Description:
For this project, LowBridge:
- developed conceptual design – format, “look and feel”, image resolution, navigation tools, etc.
- scanned book, magazine and plan page images.
- converted scanned pages to PDF documents using optical character recognition (OCR) technology.
- edited a previously unpublished manuscript, with photographs and converted to a PDF document.
- compiled separate Acrobat documents for each book or magazine article series.
- developed menu screen and supplementary documents.
- “bookmarked” content for easier navigation.
- produced CD-R masters for use in-house use.
- provide “CD-on-demand” and order fulfillment services.
- provide end user technical support on an ongoing basis via email.
Project Status:
The first printing of the Progressive Scratch Building in Ship Modeling CD is currently being marketed by
Seaways Publishing, Inc.
